Andrés Altamirano is an Ecuadorian-born visual artist and photographer currently based in New York. His interest in Photography and Textiles is inspired by his Ecuadorian grandmother’s work on traditional Andean textiles. Weaving these traditions into the fabric of his art practice, Altamirano explores the intricate facets of identity, culture and language within transitional spaces. He is a graduate of the New York Foundation of the Arts Immigrant Artist Program. He is currently the recipient of the Jan Mulder Scholarship 2024-2025 at the International Center of Photography, Documentary Practice & Visual Journalism Program.
